Technology

FaceKey has developed a number of technologies, using facial identification in unique ways. Patents which have been issued and patents which are pending back up these technologies.

Face Recognition Technology

The FaceKey Recognition Technology is recommended for applications involving identification of authorized users in controlled conditions, such as for access control, financial transactions and ATM machines.

The FaceKey Recognition Technology performs the following tasks:

  • Locates a moving object within the camera view

  • Determines if the moving object is a face

  • Compares live faces with samples from database

Face Recognition Technology can work with both low-resolution USB cameras and low or high-resolution CCTV cameras.

Face Capturing Technology

The Face Finding technology will capture all the faces in a camera’s view and store each image in a separate folder for quick review or for use with another FaceKey technology. Each face is saved with a time and date stamp. In addition to faces, facial profiles and images of human bodies can be captured and stored.

Search and Match Advisory Technology

Search and Match Advisory Technology, is available to assist in the identification of facial images extracted from the video stream or from a watch list database.

The Search and Match function operates by comparing a Subject’s photo to a database of faces and selecting the faces from the database, which look the most like the Subject’s face. The example shows the twelve faces from the database that are the most like the photo of the Subject.

Does the Subject match one of the photos selected from the database of faces? FaceKey anticipates that an authorized official will make the final decision.

These 12 photos are the result of the Search and Match operation. The subjects's photo has been compared with the database and extracted the 12 photos that mostly closely match. The 12 photos are ranked in order of probability of a match with the photo on the top left having the probability of a match while the photo at the bottom right has the lowest probability of being a match with the subject photo.

The operator will decide if the subject photo matches any of the 12 photos extracted.

Patent Portfolio

FaceKey continues to build its biometric patent portfolio. Currently, the company has three face recognition patents issued…

  • IDENTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION SYSTEM, US Patent Number:

    • Access control

    • Financial transactions

    • Check cashing

    • ATM machines

  • FINGERPRINT VERIFICATION SYSTEM UTILIZING A FACIAL IMAGE-BASED HEURISTIC SEARCH METHOD, US Patent Number 6,963,659 B2. This patent provides a way for FaceKey to serve organizations with a large population.

  • FACIAL IMAGE VERIFICATION UTLIZING SMART-CARD WITH INTEGRATED VIDEO CAMERA, US Patent Number 7,039,221 B1. This patent covers a smart card equipped with an embedded video camera, This is a new weapon in the arsenal of tools that prevent identity theft and preserve confidential data. To access the data on the card, facial recognition will verify that the owner of the card is present.
